Background

History

Founder Paul Bakker started a company in 2009 that evolved into the Offspark that is here today. At the moment Offspark is still small, having just Paul as a full-time employee. Offspark works together with a number of first-class partners and freelancers to provide a complete portfolio to its clients.

From 2002 to 2011 Paul had a full-time employment with the leading Dutch security company Fox-IT. Paul Bakker led the Crypto & High Security department of Fox-IT for over 5 years, where as an active management member he was involved in military, government and general classified projects. In addition he was an active member in the development of numerous high-security products and solutions for the national security arena, including NATO and EU environments.

Background

During his study of Computer Science at Delft University of Technology, Paul focused on Software Engineering and Core Informatics. At the same time, he ran his first software development business.

After finishing his education in 2002, he came to work as an IT Security Specialist at Fox-IT. He was involved in forensic IT investigations, penetration tests, audits and software development. Since Fox-IT acquired cryptographic technology from Philips Crypto in 2003, his focus has shifted steadily towards security for state secrets and the new cyber security arena. He was the project leader for the development of the next generation cryptographic module for the Dutch government. He is passionate about cryptography and security technologies in general. His outspoken interest and experience in cyber-operations, information operations and critical infrastructure protection allowed him to form a clear vision on the current state of security in our present day society.

Paul is an expert in the multiple areas of cyber security. He readily shares his vision by giving advice and presenting to diverse groups ranging from national policy makers at government agencies to board members and security officers at multinationals. Paul has been a speaker on conferences, radio and TV on subjects of security and digital espionage.
